NZ120 Streamlined J Repaint

The J was cleaned down & spray painted with primer from Supercheap Auto in town. Left to dry and repainted again. Once dry I painted it with 5% white & 95% flat black using the air compressor and airbrush. After a couple of coats I painted the number plates etc.

Time to organize decals...

NZR BA Class & ZM Update

The weekend saw a few updates & new projects on the cooker, one of my fathers favorites the Ba Class. This model will feature 2 versions initially, Variation #1 has an AB style smoke box & will be the initial version ordered, followed by variation #2 with an extra sand dome directly in front of the cab.

NZ120 Scale

Variation #1

Variation #2

The ZM wagon has seen a few design improvements on the 1:120 scale version & naturally will flow onto the 1:64 version.

Third post in a month..

Showing off new developments

The scenery on my layout is finally receiving more attention, I'm not too fond of house's or built up environments so its mainly going to be good ol kiwi bush. I've been acquiring punga tree's at a premium from the local model shop but well worth the money when I consider time of being far higher in value.

The DSG is finally getting some finishing touches & hopefully decals by weekend end.

The streamlined J now has brass bearings & working wheels, I did find I had to burr the axle ends a little with a file to make the wheels a bit more free rolling. Next job is installing lights!

H Class

The H Class is now almost ready for a test print in NZ120. Very close to doing the entire underframe & detailing so that it can be a static display piece until i can somehow power the thing.

Finally some movies of the steam locomotives actual running, The ab & wab were painted by Russ @ Trackgangproducts. The J on the other hand was painted by myself, but know where i went wrong. I have 2 variants of the J incoming so might focus on doing them properly!

I setup 2 loops on a flat table & even went to the effort of  cutting a nice polystyrene bed for the track & quickly had 2 trains running.

I found an old video shot Feb 2012 & shows 2 partially scratch built locos, streamlined J & WAB both now building dust somewhere. Their value dropped the second the 3d prints arrived I reakon. But here's the video shot now a year ago!
